Elizabeth Lewis recently spoke about her experiences volunteering for JFCS:

How/why did you start volunteering with JFCS?
After my papa passed away, I was looking for ways to stay connected with him and honor his memory and the JFCS and its mission, which was incredibly important to him. In light of that, I dove in headfirst to every available volunteering opportunity that came my way and eventually found that I really enjoyed being part of the Hag Sameach program and the Annual Benefit.

What made you want to continue volunteering for the agency over the years?

I felt like I really found my calling and a purpose at JFCS. I’ve always gravitated towards service and helping others, and I found I could do that and more here while working with amazing people and helping out in a community that I love.

What is your favorite part about it?
Everything – but more specifically I love everyone who works here, everyone who volunteers here, and love making a difference. On top of that, I always leave feeling so fulfilled, energized, and looking forward to when I get to go back.

Why is giving back to the community something that’s important to you?
Giving back is a value that was instilled in me from a very young age, and I’m thankful for that. I find a lot of purpose and joy in helping others. When you see the smiles on the faces of those you’re helping, it’s a powerful reminder that this is more than just volunteering… It’s making a difference in people’s lives.

Anything else you would like to add?
I love this amazing organization and everything it does for this community. To be recognized by JFCS is incredibly humbling – it’s not why I do it of course, but I’m incredibly grateful to be thought of.
