JFCS’ Volunteers in Action partners with organizations around the community
By Dana Shapiro • JFCS Community & Volunteer Engagement Manager
Volunteers in Action, a JFCS volunteer corps that supports organizations in the Jewish and broader communities, kicked off earlier this month with a Puppy Parade event at Knollwood Place Apartments on Nov. 6.
JFCS sent a group of volunteers of all ages, along with their dogs, to visit with residents from Knollwood Place and Roitenberg Family Assisted Living on a Sunday afternoon. Everyone who volunteered received a free JFCS in Action t-shirt that has our tagline, “Here for all. Always” on the back.
“Thank you so much for partnering with Sholom this event,” Kristin Kaldahl, Sholom’s Volunteer Services Supervisor, said after the event. “It was a big hit with the residents. It was great that it was whole families who came, so not only were there interactions with the dogs, but also conversations happening between the volunteers and residents. We hope to plan another one again soon.”
Upcoming Volunteers in Action event:

Join Volunteers in Action as we partner with our neighbors, PRISM, a nonprofit organization that provides social services and connections that empower people in the northwest Twin Cities suburbs to build healthy, stable lives. What started as a small, informal effort has since evolved into a strong, sustainable organization that is considered a leading provider of basic needs services in the northwest Twin Cities suburbs. Together, we will organize and prepare donations for their Holiday Toy Shoppe event. This volunteer activity is open to volunteers of all ages!
