Support the Minnesota FoodShare March Campaign

By Clare Gravon • Food Security Program Coordinator

This month marks the Minnesota Foodshare March Campaign, which brings together community organizations, businesses, and faith communities to help stock nearly 300 food shelves statewide. It is the largest grassroots food and fund drive in the state.

Again this year, JFCS will sponsor a food drive for staff and the community to support our partner, PRISM’s Marketplace Food Shelf. Every pound of food we donate increases PRISM’s financial allocation from this campaign. Plus, the food we donate goes directly to PRISM’s food shelf participants. Please drop off non-perishable food items at JFCS (5905 Golden Valley Rd, Golden Valley) during March and we’ll make sure it goes directly to stock the shelves at PRISM.

Empty Bowls

Another way to support food security is the 9th Annual Empty Bowls Event on Tuesday, March 5, from 4-7 p.m., at Robbinsdale Cooper High School (8230 47th Ave N, New Hope). Choose your favorite bowl, eat soup, make a free will donation, and take your favorite bowl home with you. Proceeds from this event will go to PRISM and one other food shelf. No need for advance registration, just walk in and make a donation!
