2025 Exemplary Service Award: Paula Fields

JFCS will host its 115th Annual Meeting from noon to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, at JFCS (5905 Golden Valley Rd, Golden Valley). At the event, we will present the 2025 JFCS Exemplary Service Award to dedicated volunteers Paula Fields, Sandy Baron and Eva Neubeck. To RSVP for the Annual Meeting, click here! Below, Paula speaks about why she enjoys volunteering with JFCS.

How/why did you start volunteering with JFCS?

My late mother used the senior transportation program (Garber Transportation) for several years after we moved her here from Florida. It gave her an invaluable sense of independence. I started out answering the phones for the Garber program as a way of giving back to JFCS.  After COVID, that volunteer position went away and I was asked to come back to help in the Senior Services department on various projects as needed.

What made you want to continue volunteering for the agency over the years?

It is a way of giving back to the community and a chance to volunteer.

What is your favorite part about it?

Meeting the people that are dedicated to the mission of JFCS, especially the staff in the Senior Services department.

Anything else you would like to add?

I never thought of my helping out with office projects as that meaningful, so it makes me feel good that it is so appreciated and really does help the staff. Their priority should be helping clients and I’m glad I can help with whatever else is needed, such as mailings and computer updates.
