2 JFCS clinical staff participate in trip to Israel focusing on trauma response

Two JFCS staff members – one from Senior Services and one from Counseling – recently participated on a trip to Israel designed to create cultural connection, learning, and contribute to impactful mental health and community well-being programs. They were part of a group of 21 dedicated clinicians from member agencies of the Network of Jewish Human Service Agencies (NJHSA) across North America who participated in the trip, which was organized by NJHSA, and the Natal and Birthright programs.

One of the main focuses of the trip was trauma response and caring for people experiencing trauma. Designed as a multi-cultural experience, it was an opportunity for staff in North America who work in trauma to interact and learn from counterparts in Israel.

The trip included a visit and volunteer experience at Ruca Farm, a therapeutic sanctuary dedicated to supporting veterans with PTSD; a tour and visit of Hostage Square; a training with NATAL on dealing with trauma, processing grief, and building resilience; and more learning and volunteering opportunities.
