JFCS to participate in Good Deeds Day April 2

By Deb Savitt • Community Involvement Manager

Good Deeds Day is an annual tradition of good deeds. All over the world, hundreds of thousands choose to volunteer and help others, putting into practice the simple idea that every single person can do something good, be it large or small, to improve the lives of others and positively change the world. Read more about Good Deeds Day and its impact across the globe here.

This year, once again, JFCS is participating in Good Deeds Day, April 2, through our delivery of Passover Hag Sameach bags filled with ritual foods for the holiday. For many of our recipients, this might be their only means of celebrating the rich traditions of Passover. We will celebrate being a part of this national and international effort to make the world a better place. We are excited to offer our volunteers a free Good Deeds Day t-shirt while supplies last as they come to pick up their Passover bags to deliver. Of course, JFCS is committed to making every day a good deeds day through our many opportunities to heal the world starting in our very own community. Volunteers are always needed to visit with our older adult clients; drive them to their various engagements and appointments; repairing “quick fixes” in their homes; assisting them with their technical needs; helping to organize their bills and paperwork; or just calling for a weekly check-in. In addition, volunteer big brothers and sisters play a critical role for children and teens in our community who may be in need of positive role models. Our partnership with PRISM food shelf and thrift shop allows us to “share” our volunteers to help them sustain their mission of building healthy and stable lives. And our NextGen program is our future, with committed and energetic young adults guiding us into the future through their philanthropy and volunteer efforts.
