J-Pride Presents: A Zoom Concert and Open Mic event

J-Pride Presents: A Zoom Concert and Open Mic on Sunday, Dec. 20, at 3 p.m. An afternoon of Jewish folk music by local performers, followed by an open mic. Tune in and listen, or come prepared to share a song of your own! A transcript will be available and we are working to secure ASL interpretation.

  • Tuffy Red is the solo project of Izzy Buckner, a non-binary Jewish Minneapolis transplant, guitarist, singer, and songwriter. Their songs range from sincere to snarky to sad and often delve into their emotional experiences where the personal meets the political.   • Tzipporah is a Twin-Cities based singer/songwriter, guitarist, and educator. A former classical guitarist turned folk/rock musician, she believes that music and art are powerful tools for positive social change.   • Masha Trius was born in Leningrad, USSR, and grew up in Haifa. They were raised on Russian and Ashkenazi music, and now collect and perform Yiddish folk songs in their spare time. They received a grant from the Minneapolis Jewish Federation to arrange and transcribe lead sheets for Yiddish music. https://liderbukh.jews.international
  • Sarah Larsson sings folk melodies in pursuit of her great-grandmothers’ stories. Solo vocal music and poetry in Yiddish, Hungarian, and Bulgarian, are accompanied by drone box and strings.
