Renewing Life – an educational and emotional support group

Are you struggling with a chronic disease such as MS, Lupus, Fibromyalgia or Diabetes? Have you been diagnosed with cancer? If so, you and or your family member caregivers may want to participate in an upcoming series called Renewing Life (RL).

Renewing Life is a nine-week educational/support group offered at Jewish Family and Children’s Service of Minneapolis (JFCS) beginning Wednesday, May 3, from 6-8:30 p.m.

RL is about learning coping skills and healing techniques for people dealing with a physical chronic or terminal illness. RL empowers participants to live authentically, view illness and life challenges as opportunities for growth, and discover and create a personal healing path. This proven curriculum has a focus on living the best possible life in the midst of challenges. Some weekly themes include the mind-body-spirit connection, dealing with challenging relationships and finding life meaning.

“Renewing Life provided me with a safe environment to reflect and openly share my feelings, life-changing experiences and challenges I was facing. The facilitators were compassionate, understanding, patient and provided various ways to handle life at the moment and in the future. The workbook was invaluable. The commonality amongst the participants was comforting in a sense…I was no longer alone. This was a wonderful program to have participated in.” – Patti M.

This is the third group being offered at JFCS. It is funded by a grant through the Women’s Endowment Fund of the Jewish Community Foundation of the Minneapolis Jewish Federation and there is no cost to participants or caregivers.

If you are feeling “stuck” or just want to connect with others going through similar experiences, this is for YOU! Confidentiality is critical to our group.

The group is co-facilitated by Jill Marks, M.A. L.P., and Betsy Michel, RN.
