Statement on the death of George Floyd
It is with profound sadness that Jewish Family and Children’s Service of Minneapolis acknowledges the horrific event this week in our community resulting in the brutal death of George Floyd. We offer our sympathies to his family and friends. Mr. Floyd’s death was both tragic and senseless, and as an organization that addresses and supports the needs of people who are often mistreated and misunderstood, we stand with all those who call for action.
As a Jewish organization, we are sensitive to the struggles of those who often feel unsafe and targeted. We are committed to helping build equity and opportunity for all people in our community. We strive to create systems and institutions that operate on behalf of all Black and Brown folks.
Jewish Family and Children’s Service of Minneapolis’ core values center around Tikkun Olam, perfecting the world one person at a time. We offer support, guidance, education and services to those experiencing crisis or trauma. May Mr. Floyd’s memory be a blessing, and may we as a community heal and learn to prevent tragedies like this from happening again.
