Volunteers in Action: Donate Blood to Save Lives

Mon Feb 13 - Sat Feb 18

Join Volunteers in Action and give hope to hospital patients in our community by donating blood during our upcoming donor days as we partner with Memorial Blood Center. MBC has been saving lives for 70 years as an independent nonprofit supplying life-saving blood to area hospitals and other partners throughout the U.S. Operating 10 donor centers and conducting hundreds of blood drives each month, MBC also provides comprehensive testing and expert technical services as a national leader in transfusion medicine.

Due to both blood and staffing shortages, we decided to hold the drive throughout the week at Memorial Blood Center’s Plymouth location, instead of having them come to JFCS one day. Come say hi at the JFCS info table on Tuesday, February 14.

> Click here to register for an appointment and be sure to enter the code “JFCS” under appointments notes.

February 13-18
Appointments available at various times throughout the days
Memorial Blood Center – 3021 Harbor Lane N., Plymouth, MN 55447

Did you know?

  • 1 donation can save up to three lives.
  • In the U.S., someone needs blood every 2 seconds, and as the primary blood supplier to over 40 hospitals in Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin, Memorial Blood Centers must collect over 2,000 units of blood every week to save and sustain the lives of our neighbors.
  • 1 in 3 people will need blood in their lifetime, so the need for blood is constant.

Whether you are a first time blood donor or you have given previously, click here to watch this brief video on what to expect. Click here to read MBC’s eligibility guidelines. MBC follows blood donation guidelines as set by the FDA. Feel free to contact their Donor Suitability department directly at 888-448-3253 if you have questions about your eligibility to donate.

Volunteers in Action is a JFCS volunteer corps that supports organizations in the Jewish and broader communities.
