Volunteers in Action: Donate Blood to Save Lives

What: Join Volunteers in Action and give hope to hospital patients in our community by donating blood during our upcoming donor days as we partner with Memorial Blood Center. If you don’t already have a blue JFCS in Action t-shirt and would like one, you can email Dana at dshapiro@jfcsmpls.org what size you need and she will make sure you get one.

Who: Memorial Blood Center has been saving lives for 70 years as an independent nonprofit supplying life-saving blood to area hospitals and other partners throughout the U.S. Operating 10 donor centers and conducting hundreds of blood drives each month, MBC also provides comprehensive testing and expert technical services as a national leader in transfusion medicine.

When: JFCS Donor Days will go from February 12-17 with blood donation appointments available at various times throughout the week.

Where: Located at Memorial Blood Center – 3021 Harbor Lane N., Plymouth, MN 55447.

Why: To help with blood and staffing shortages, we are holding another week-long drive. MBC can really use our help!

• 1 donation can save up to three lives.
• In the U.S., someone needs blood every 2 seconds, and as the primary blood supplier to over 40 hospitals in Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin, Memorial Blood Centers must collect over 2,000 units of blood every week to save and sustain the lives of our neighbors.
• 1 in 3 people will need blood in their lifetime, so the need for blood is constant.
