Popular Shabbat in the Park series coming again this summer

By Carrie Fink • PJ Library Coordinator

PJ Library and TCJewfolk/MN Mammalehs are thrilled to be partnering again this summer for the popular Shabbat in the Park program. The goal of the program is to encourage Jewish families to get to know one another in their neighborhoods. The gatherings are casual and low key.

Parents are invited to host a Shabbat at a park of their choosing. TC Jewfolk covers the costs and helps parents invite others who live nearby. PJ Library supplies parent hosts with a “Shabbat in a Box,” including candlesticks, matches, a challah cover, Kiddush cup, and juice boxes. Families bring their own picnic dinner and there is no cost to attend.

“Shabbat in the Park is one of my favorite programs for families, because it allows parents the opportunity to build upon their Jewish community in their own neighborhood in a fun and comfortable environment.” – PJ Library parent

The first Shabbat in the Park is Friday, June 10, at Nokomis Playground in South Minneapolis. Interested in hosting or want to make sure a Shabbat in the Park is in your neighborhood? Click here to learn more about hosting duties.
